My Jane Photography Boudoir experience is a style featuring intimate and romantic images taken in a photographic studio, your own bedroom or perhaps at a location selected by us both. It is a distinct style of photography which is more suggestive rather than explicit in its approach. It usually features subjects who are not used to modelling. The images taken are not intended to be seen by a wide audience.
Being a female Boudoir photographer I will make you feel at ease wether we shoot in your home environment, on location or in my studio.
Its good to bring with you a collection of different items to wear in a variety of styles and colours so that you can pick outfits to complement the room we are using. I will let you know this before our shoot.
If you are shy we can start with photos of you in a dressing gown. When your confidence starts to grow we can then take it step by step, whatever you feel comfortable with is key. The idea is for you to relax and enjoy your Boudoir experience.
Good make-up is vital for successful boudoir photography. If possible hire a professional, or ask a friend who is skilled in this area. This really is important to get the professional look. Sometimes to save on the shoot hiring a student make up artist is a good way to work as they all want valuable experience and with your permission they can use some of the shots for their portfolio even if it is just head and shoulders shots.
Bringing props into play like a telephone, hairbrush or lipstick. They help to provide a distraction for your subject and take the emphasis off being photographed. Props really do make the photo occasionally.
There are certain poses that work for me because I know they will work. But I always try to be adventurous and try something new too. If you have seen a pose that you like we can always do that first so it’s in the bag and after that we can experiment.
Study the work of others, and save images that inspire you to a Pinterest board, or make an album on your phone so that you can refer to it during the shoot if we get stuck for ideas. I am open minded so always up for something different and different locations.
For shooting full length shots I get down really low on the floor and shoot up – it’ll make your legs look really long.
I shoot using Canon digital DSLR equipment
